Mission & Structure

Mission

Our mission is to empower female high school chess leaders to foster an inclusive environment for all and expand the chess community.

We do this through our three-pronged approach: free introductory chess lessons, a weekly Girl Power Club, and Ambassador Team.

Free Chess Lessons

Female leaders remove the cost-prohibitive barriers to entering the chess world through free introductory chess instruction. By empowering high school girls to serve as role models for younger students, we create a gender-inclusive learning environment, increase the accessibility of chess, and establish teams at under-resourced schools.

Monthly Girl Power Club

Girls of all ages from across the city, state, and country connect to play chess and form friendships, fostering camaraderie online and eventually at in-person tournaments. The club meets in an effort to build a stronger female chess community. Younger girls also receive mentorship from female high school chess players.

Ambassador Team

Small teams of female high school students consult with local chess organizations, public school systems, and chess masters. They lead free chess lessons and club meetings, and coordinate local all-girls K-8 tournaments and workshops, in addition to creating proposals for integrating gender-inclusivity into chess communities.
