Read more about Karen Hoshino here: Karen Hoshino, originally from Japan, learned to play chess from her father at the age of four. It wasn’t until she began training with her coaches GM Mihajlo Stojanovic and IM James Mann de Toledo when her family moved to Brazil, that she started to play competitive chess in the national and international level. She played various school championships in Brazil and Japan, and eventually became one of the youngest members of the Japanese Olympic Chess Team. She participated in her first chess Olympiad at the age of 11 in Istanbul and has been part of the Olympic team ever since. Apart from chess, Karen loves to play golf, play the piano, and go for walks with her friends. She loves her studies at the Saint Louis University (SLU) and is a proud member of the SLU Chess Team.
